"These guys are not only
amazing technically, they really know how to teach. Definitely a winning combination."

Master Timothy Plunkett - Chief Instructor of the Ketsugo-Te System of Self-Defense

Master Timothy Plunkett joined Self-Defense Systems, Unltd. in 1992.  He was awarded a Master Instructor credential in Ketsugo-Te after studying directly with the system’s founder, Master William Myers. Since joining the organization, Master Plunkett has been instrumental in the further development of the system.

Master Plunkett began his study of the martial arts at an early age, when experienced family members introduced him to Judo and “Street Survival” concepts. In 1977 he joined the Tai Karate Dojo in West Covina, California and had the opportunity to study privately with the system’s founder, Master David German. He eventually became an instructor in this highly effective, mixed martial arts system under Chief Instructor Tom Pouliot.  Master Plunkett has extensive training and teaching experience in a variety of martial arts including Kenpo Karate, Jujitsu, Aikido, Kung Fu, Ne-Waza / Ground-Fighting, Hapkido and Tai-Chi Chuan.

Master Plunkett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology / chemistry, and has extensive formal training in the disciplines of biology, biochemistry, human anatomy, human physiology, and clinical laboratory science.  He continues to study and research the human fear response as it relates to self-defense applications, and in 1999 was selected to teach a self-defense program to physical education majors by the School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science, at California State University, Los Angeles.

Master Plunkett serves as a Defensive Tactics Consultant to military, law-enforcement, and executive protection personnel. He is the originator of the S.C.A.R.E. (Scenarios Creating Attack Reality Environments) Protocols, a method designed to enhance the “street reality” of self-defense training, and I.C.G.F. (Intuitive Combat Ground-Fighting), a reality based counter-grappling program. Master Plunkett has conducted numerous seminars on self-defense and crime prevention strategies and tactics for businesses and organizations in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
